Ministry of Makers vzw and Stad Gent launch vol+maakt

An unique collection of design objects. That is Vol+Maakt. A story of mutual respect, complementary skills and a shared love for natural materials. Handmade, sustainable, locally produced and ‘made socially’. A Ghent pilot project in which 3 designers and two local companies bundled their passion for ‘making’ to shape a special design collection.

Designers Cas Moor, Sep Verboom and Valerie Bervoet moved to the studios of the Ghent-based companies Labeur and Compaan in early 2017, to work intensively together with the employees. Only then did they sit at the design table. Supported by the supervisors in the tailor-made companies themselves, Ministry of Makers (DPGOV vzw), City of Ghent and Province of East Flanders, they looked for opportunities to create a series of objects that could almost be designed and produced from start to finish in the companies. Vol + Maakt became a story of mutual respect, complementary skills, tactility and a shared love for natural materials.

A perfect collaboration!
